Startup
Contract Opportunity (J2EE)
Reply to: job-13524943@craigslist.org
(forwards to an @yahoo.com address)

Startup Contract Opportunity
Technologies (J2EE based):
* JSP / Servlet Web Server (Tomcat now, going to be Jetty)
* Relational Database (MySQL)
* LDAP authentication / authorization (OpenLDAP)
* SMTP based technologies
* Deployed on Solaris
* etc…
I am currently working a contract with a small startup software company
that is producing a web based service for consumers and small to medium
sized enterprises.
I have been working with them for approximately 2 months now and think
it is an awesome and profound product idea, which we expect to launch
within the next 2 months. There are two principal members of the company
who are very excited and knowledgeable in the market space and are a
pleasure to work with.
The situation is that the principal members are personally funding the
company until they can secure additional outside financing, for which
they already have half a dozen meaningful conversations in progress. So,
the contract rate is currently lower that we have been able to expect in
the past. However, because we are paid hourly, it is not that bad. I
typically work about 65 hrs per week (when I work a salaried position, I
get the same pay no matter how many hours I work).
They have been very genuine with me and have assured me that upon
securing financing formal, permanent offers will be extended to the
engineers working as contractors (there are 2 of us so far and we are
looking for 3 more).
There are three types of positions available:
Senior Java Engineer – requires strong experience (3+ years) with
designing and developing session EJB’s, relational database tables,
and entity EJB’s. Ability to integrate third party API’s using the
specification alone. LDAP experience a plus!
SMTP / Mail Server Configuration Engineer – requires extensive
knowledge of SMTP, including the optimal configuration and environment
for handling very large numbers of email clients. LDAP experience a
plus! Experience and techniques for handling spammers a big plus!
JSP / Struts UI Engineer – strong experience with JSP (3+ years). Must
be able to rapidly implement UI’s (the aesthetics and content of which
are usually already mocked up) using JSP / Struts. EJB, SMTP, LDAP, SQL
experience a plus!
If you are interested, please send the following 4 pieces of
information:
* Your most recent resume
* A short cover letter that simply describes the number of years of
experience you have with each of the technologies described above)
* 3 references, one of which must be a previous supervisor (we will not
contact anyone without first discussing it with you)
* Your phone number
We are in crunch mode, so we are extremely busy. We will delete all
email that is missing any of the 4 pieces of information we have
requested from you.
This company could really turn into something big. I absolutely love
this project and the environment we are working in. Startup
opportunities like this have not been available since the big crash;
don’t miss out on this opportunity!!!!!
